Overview
Rutt covers one city per issue, and only in summer. The editors wanted it to feel like a friend's photos rather than a guidebook.
Approach
Every story is shot on film by a local photographer, with no hotel lobbies and no drone shots. The layout leaves wide margins for notes, because readers write in it.
Outcome
Issue one sold out its print run, and Rutt now publishes four cities a year.
